the georgia quilt show part 2

didn't look like blogger was going to let me put any more pics in that post, so here's the remaining shots:

my new fave store for fabrics etc, sue spargo.
she carries a beautiful array of hand-dyed wool fabrics, of which i will buying a ton to probably make clothes (skirts, jackets) rather than quilts, though her folky quilts are lovely too, so i'll probably end up doing both. i'm pretty sure my mum is going to want anything and everything from this store for christmas too, so it makes it an easy one-stop for both of us. shame her actual store is all the was in ohio. thank god for internet shopping!

at yara intl, a store in harlem specializing in african fabrics, i had to break down and buy this gorgeous green fabric with a wicked pattern which i'll be making into a skirt. will be taking pics of my spoils today and putting them up here.

one of my favorite parts of the quilt show was discovering this artist/quilter, sonja tugend, whose work in one of the competitions showed me that you can go above and beyond the usual quilting patterns, by using your own intuition and artistic ability. many of her pieces were done, not according to any plan but instead, by improvisation, making for some great art. beautiful stuff.
