dance wiv another one bites the dust - keane rock queen and dizzee rascal
my favor with keane has been on and off ever since i first heard legendary bbc dj steve lamacq gushing about them in 2002 or thereabouts. with a "voice like skyscrapers," singer tom chaplin led the no-guitars-piano-led band to the top of england's charts. seeing them at glastonbury stunned me. but at some point i got sick of them and declared them "pedestrian," a term an ex-boyfriend used to use for bands who were rather mediocre. but, having heard the band's second and third albums, i've realized that massively popular doesn't mean bad. especially when the band's second record was miiiiiiles better than the piece of poo coldplay had put out that year. eugh.
anyway, the band is back with a third album which is lovely and retro, with lots of '80s synths. very cool. so they were in the bbc radio 1 live lounge, and as tradition dictates, they played a cover of a recent chart topper, in this case, dizzee rascal's "dance wiv me." but they mixed in a bit of the queen in there too, making it just super brilliant. check out the track here.
